As the demand for skilled Technique Specialists is at a critical level due to increase in movement related injuries and increase in numbers of participants in athletic activities, practitioners who hold the CRTS certification are well positioned to provide the professional skills necessary to lead and achieve successful results.

To earn the Certification, you must pass the Certification Exam.

To attain this credential individuals must meet all eligibility requirements, pass the CRTS examination, and commit to a standard of professional accountability.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

A Certified Running Technique Specialist:

  • Designs and leads running training for both groups and individuals, from beginner to advanced, that are safe, effective, and appropriate for individuals who are apparently healthy or have medical clearance to exercise. The specialist recognizes the limitations of his or her own knowledge and skill set and refers clients to other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
  • Assesses, monitors, and develops training programming based on the client’s current and ongoing performance goals, fitness level, readiness for training, performance (relative to goals, level, and readiness for training)
  • Teaches correct running technique by a combination of technique drills and exercises.
  • Educates and motivates clients towards program success.
  • Minimizes and manages risk for the client during training sessions.
  • Runs an ethical practice operating with professionalism and integrity.
