License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are inline with the Indiana Administrative Rules and Policies and meet the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana (IC 25-27-1-19) Continuing Competency requirements for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants licensed in Indiana.
All Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant licensees are required to obtain twenty-two (22) hours of continuing competency activities each biennial renewal period.
A licensed Physical Therapist must complete, by June 30, in each biennium, 22 contact hours. At least ten (10) hours must be in Category I.
A licensed Physical Therapist Assistant must complete, by June 30, in each biennium, 22 contact hours. At least ten (10) hours must be in Category I.
1 contact hour = 1 CEU
Physical Therapy licenses and Physical Therapy Assistant certifications expire on June 30 of even-numbered years.
Twenty-two (22) hours of continuing competency activities are required for the biennial renewal period, of which two (2) hours must be in an ethics and Indiana jurisprudence course as it relates to the practice of physical therapy. At least ten (10) hours must be in Category I. Contact hours must be started on or after July 1 of the renewal period (eg. July 1, 2018) and completed by June 30 of the renewal year (eg. June 30, 2020). These hours must be obtained within the renewal period and cannot be carried over from one renewal period to another.
