License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants

Kansas State Board of Healing Arts – Physical Therapy accepts the utilization of CE Broker – continuing education system to find, track, and report continuing education to the board. Take our course(s) or seminars and we will automatically report your continuing education hours once you receive your Certificate of Completion.
Continuing Education Requirements
Kansas licensed professionals must complete continuing education during each two-year cycle in order to renew his or her license. Renewal cycle is November 15 – January 31.
Physical Therapists: 40 CEHs
Physical Therapists in Kansas must have a minimum of 40 hours of approved continuing education during each 2-year cycle.
Physical Therapist Assistants: 20 CEHs
Physical Therapist Assistants are required to have 20 hours of continuing education during the same cycle.
Requirements for Renewal
As a condition of renewal for each odd-numbered year, each licensed physical therapist, certified physical therapist assistant, or compact privilege holder shall submit, in addition to the annual application for renewal of licensure, certification, or compact privilege, evidence of satisfactory completion within the preceding two-year period of at least 40 contact hours of continuing education for a licensed physical therapist or a physical therapist holding a compact privilege and at least 20 contact hours of continuing education for a certified physical therapist assistant or a physical therapist assistant holding a compact privilege. A contact hour shall consist of 60 minutes of activity pertaining to the practice of physical therapy.
