License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
Continuing Education Requirements
A licensee shall earn continuing education (CE) hours between April 1 and March 31 during the 2-year period before renewal. CE hours may not be carried over from one renewal period to the next.
- Renewal portal will not be accessible again until March 2025
- ONLY electronic renewal applications are accepted
- When the renewal portal reopens in March 2025, electronic license renewal applications are to be submitted no later than Saturday, May 31, 2025
Licenses due for renewal May 31, 2025: the timeframe to earn/complete Continuing Education (CE) hours is April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2025
Physical Therapists: 30 CEH
All licensed Physical Therapists shall earn 30 CE hours for the renewal period
Physical Therapist Assistants: 20 CEH
All licensed Physical Therapist Assistants shall earn 20 CE hours for the renewal period
Requirements for Renewal
- A licensee shall earn continuing education (CE) hours between April 1 and March 31 during the 2-year period before renewal and maintain records of the CE subject matter, certificates of completion, hours, date, and CE hours to present to the Board on request
- CE hours completed after March 31 of the year of the renewal may not be accepted
- Physical Therapists shall earn 30 CE hours for the renewal period
- Physical Therapist Assistants shall earn 20 CE hours for the renewal period
Failure to substantiate CE hours if requested by the Board shall result in denial of license renewal or reinstatement of a license.
