License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants

Michigan Board of Physical Therapy accepts the utilization of CE Broker – continuing education system to find, track, and report continuing education to the board. Take our course(s) or seminars and we will automatically report your continuing education hours once you receive your Certificate of Completion.
Continuing Education Requirements
Licensees must complete 24 PDR credits in activities that are approved under administrative rule R 338.7163. The PDR credits must be completed during the 2 years that immediately precede the expiration date of the license, and one of the 24 PDR credits must be in the area of pain and symptom management.
Physical Therapists: 24 PDRs
The licensed Physical Therapist must complete 24 hrs of professional development requirement.
Physical Therapist Assistants: 24 PDRs
The licensed Physical Therapist Assistant must complete 24 hrs of professional development requirement.
1 hour of continuing education/professional development activity = 1 PDR credit.
Requirements for Renewal
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Authority (LARA) requires ongoing professional development to promote continuing competency of licensed health professionals including PTs and PTAs. PTs and PTAs are required to complete 24 PDR credits for each license renewal cycle (during the immediate 2 years before the license expiration date). A licensee must keep documentation of completed PDR credits for 4 years from the date of applying for license renewal.
1 hour of continuing education/professional development activity = 1 PDR credit.
