License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are approved as Certified Activity inline with the rules of the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy and meet the continuing education requirements for PTs and PTAs.
Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy accepts the utilization of CE Broker – continuing education system to find, track, and report continuing education to the board. Take our course(s) or seminars and we will automatically report your continuing education hours once you receive your Certificate of Completion.
Regulations set the requirement of 30 continuing competence units (CCU) to be accrued during each 2 year licensing period (July 1- June 30). No carryover of continuing competence units from one licensure period to another shall be allowed. At least 15 of the 30 required continuing competence units must be from Certified Activities.
Physical Therapists: 30 CCUs
The licensed Physical Therapist must complete, by June 30, in each biennium, 30 CCUs.
The licensed Physical Therapist Assistant must complete, by June 30, in each biennium, 30 CCUs.
Each individual licensed as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant is responsible for optimum service to the consumer and is accountable to the consumer, the employer, and the profession for evidence of maintaining high levels of skill and knowledge.
Regulations set the requirement of 30 continuing competence units (CCU) to be accrued during each 2 year licensing period (July 1- June 30). No carryover of continuing competence units from one licensure period to another shall be allowed. At least 25 percent (7.5 CCU) of the required continuing competence units earned during each licensure period must be directly related to the clinical practice of physical therapy. All licensees must take three (3) hours of board-approved hours of study in ethics, professionalism, or jurisprudence per licensing period as part of their total CC requirements. At least 15 of the 30 required continuing competence units must be from Certified Activities outlined in Rule 5.4. All licensees must record and report compliance of continuing competence activities through the free online system provide by CE Broker.
