License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
Continuing Education Requirements
In order to renew a license, a licensee is required to complete and report thirty (30) hours of continuing education every twenty-four (24)-month beginning January 1 and ending December 31 of each reporting period. Continuing education hours can not be carried over into another or the next reporting period.
Physical Therapists: 30 CEH
All licensed physical therapists shall accumulate thirty (30) hours of continuing education every two (2) years to be eligible for licensure renewal.
Physical Therapist Assistants: 30 CEH
All licensed physical therapist assistants shall accumulate thirty (30) hours of continuing education every two (2) years to be eligible for licensure renewal.
Requirements for Renewal
All licensed physical therapists and physical therapist assistants shall biennially, on even-numbered years, complete and report at least thirty (30) hours of acceptable continuing education as specified in rule 4 CSR 150- 3.203.
The period for completion of the continuing education requirements shall be the twenty-four (24)-month period beginning January 1 and ending December 31 of each reporting period. Continuing education hours can not be carried over into another or the next reporting period.
One continuing education unit (CEU)—is equivalent to ten (10) clock hours of approved continuing education (i.e. ten (10) clock hours = 1.0 CEU, one (1) clock hour = 0.1 CEU)
