License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are approved as Certified Activity inline with the rules of the South Carolina Board Of Physical Therapy and meet the continuing education requirements for PTs and PTAs according to S.C. Code Regs. Ann. § 101-07(3).
South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy utilizes CE Broker – continuing education system to find, track, and report continuing education to the board. Take our course(s) or seminars and we will automatically report your continuing education hours once you receive your Certificate of Completion.
A licensed PT or PTA shall earn three (3.0) CEUs per biennium period (30 hours) and at least fifteen (15) contact hours of the thirty hours must be obtained through the completion of Certified Activities. PTs and PTAs licensed in South Carolina are not subject to this requirement for the first biennium renewal period in which they are initially licensed.
The next biennial reporting period is January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026
Physical Therapists: 3 CEUs
The licensed Physical Therapist must complete, by December 31, in each biennium, 3 CEUs.
The licensed Physical Therapist Assistant must complete, by December 31, in each biennium, 3 CEUs.
Every licensed physical therapist and physical therapist assistant shall earn 3.0 CEUs or thirty (30) hours of acceptable continuing education credit per biennium year, which must include 15 hours of certified activities, which must include three hours of ethics or professionalism, and the remainder 15 hours through any combination of certified activities and/or approved activities. ALL licensees are required to submit their continuing education hours to CE Broker prior to renewing.
