License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are inline with Utah Office of Administrative Rules (R156-24b-303b) and meet the continuing education requirements for PTs and PTAs for continuing education activities in accordance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants must complete continuing education during each two-year renewal cycle beginning June 1 of each odd-numbered year.
Physical Therapists: 40 CEUs
At least 40 CEUs per renewal cycle, including at least 2 CEUs in ethics or law.
Up to 10 excess CEUs may be carried forward to the next two-year renewal cycle.
Physical Therapist Assistants: 20 CEUs
At least 20 CEUs per renewal cycle, including at least 2 CEUs in ethics or law.
Up to 5 excess CEUs may be carried forward to the next two-year renewal cycle.
Under Subsection 58-24b-303(2), the continuing education requirement for a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant during each two-year renewal cycle commences on June 1 of each odd-numbered year.
During each two-year renewal cycle, a physical therapist shall complete at least 40 CEUs, of which at least two CEUs shall be in ethics or law. A physical therapist may carry over up to 10 excess CEUs to the next two-year renewal cycle.
A physical therapist assistant shall complete at least 20 CEUs, of which at least two CEUs shall be in ethics or law. A physical therapist assistant may carry over up to 5 excess CEUs to the next two-year renewal cycle.
