License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are approved by the West Virginia Board of Physical Therapy and meet the Continuing Education requirements for PTs and PTAs established by the Physical Therapy Law for the State of WV, Rule §16-1-10 found within the Rules & Laws section.
All licensees desiring to remain active and in good standing must complete 24 hours of West Virginia Physical Therapy Board approved CEs within the 2 year licensing period. You must upload your continuing education prior to renewing your license.
All physical therapists must complete 24 hours of WV board approved continuing education hours.
All physical therapist assistants must complete 24 hours of WV board approved continuing education hours.
All licensees desiring to remain active and in good standing must complete 24 hours of WV board approved CE courses within the 2 year licensing period. The WV Physical Therapy board’s CE requirements are listed in Legislative Rule §16-1-10 found within the Rules & Laws section. Per the CE guidelines, courses sponsored by the APTA, the WVPTA, BOC and any CAPTE accredited school are automatically approved by this board and are not required to be submitted for review.
All licensees are now required to upload their continuing education prior to renewal. Renewals begin October 1 and end December 31 in the year your license is due to expire. There is no grace period for renewals. Licenses not renewed on or before December 31 will automatically become delinquent, and employers will be notified.
