License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following course(s) are inline with the Wisconsin State Department of Safety and Professional Services, Physical Therapy Examining Board standards for approval, and meet the continuing education requirements for PTs and PTAs for continuing education activities in accordance with the Wisconsin Administrative Code (Ch.PT 9).
In order to renew a license, a licensee is required to complete the following number of hours of continuing education during each biennial (2 year) registration period.
Every physical therapist shall complete at least 30 hours of board− approved continuing education in each biennial registration period.
Every physical therapist assistant shall complete at least 20 hours of board−approved continuing education in each biennial registration period
Physical therapists are required to complete at least 30 contact hours of approved continuing education and physical therapy assistants are required to complete at least 20 contact hours of approved continuing education during each biennial (2 year) registration period.
Per Wis. Stat. § 440.08 (2), the required renewal date for the Physical Therapist credential is 02/28/odd years. Biennium from 3/1/odd – 2/28/odd year.
Continuing education hours may apply only to the registration period in which the hours are acquired.
