License Renewal Requirements for Physical Therapists + Physical Therapy Assistants
The following courses are rule approved by the Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy and meet the continuing competence requirements for PTs and PTAs for planned learning experiences in accordance with the Rule 1150-01-.12 of the Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy.
The Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy has approved the utilization of CE Broker – continuing education system to find, track, and report continuing education to the board. Take our course(s) or seminars and we will automatically report your continuing education hours once you receive your Certificate of Completion.
All physical therapists and physical therapist assistants must obtain thirty (30) units of continuing competence every two years to be eligible for licensure or relicensure. Beginning July 1, 2020, it shall become mandatory for licensees to report proof of completion of their CEs to CE Broker, including at the time of license renewal.

1150-01-.12 The Board shall require each licensed physical therapist and physical therapist assistant to participate in a minimum number of experiences to promote continuing competence for the twenty –four (24) months that precede the licensure renewal month. Beginning January 1, 2005, all applicants for licensure, renewal of license, reactivation of license, or reinstatement of license must demonstrate competency.
The requirements for continuing competence are defined as planned learning experiences which occur beyond the entry level educational requirements for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
